Before leaving a visit, ask which channel handles follow-up questions

Identify the question type

MedlinePlus encourages finding out how to contact a provider and obtain further information. A scheduling question, an instruction clarification and a question about a result may follow different routes. Asking which route applies can make the follow-up more precise.

Record the confirmed route

Keep the contact method provided by the service, the kind of question it handles and any limits explicitly stated. Confirm that the details belong to the actual organisation. Do not invent opening hours, response times or an emergency capability from the presence of a general inbox.

Avoid sending a full history unnecessarily

Prepare a concise reference to the relevant visit and the specific question, using the service’s requested process. Do not post private records in public comments to attract a response. This guide does not operate a care service or decide how urgent a question is; use appropriate local services for concerns requiring timely assessment.
